About

Hey Pure, so what's the story?

Hi! My name is Kaja, I’m the founder of Pure and the lass on the photo above. I’ve created Pure after a menstrual cup quite literally changed my menstrual life. A cup is like the holy grail, the world’s best kept secret for some reason, so I’ve decided to shine the light on and tell you all about it.

In times BC, before cup, I too, used pads and tampons. Only until I grasped how very toxic they are, and how immensely they pollute. Plus, they’re super uncomfortable! It took me years before finding the cup, but when I did, I never looked back.

I created Pure in the beginning of 2020, after using the cup for about two years. Having improved my life so remarkably, making my periods, dare I say – comfortable, I felt strongly about sharing this information with you. Wearing a cup I now sleep without even realizing I’m on my period. I don’t have to change sheets because leaking isn’t a problem anymore, I can move along without feeling awkward, and I can swim without worrying for one second if I’m leaving red traces behind me.

Another reason I launched Pure for is because I care deeply about how we treat our planet, and how much flora and fauna suffer because of our reckless behaviour. All the while we have sustainable alternatives to choose from! Reducing waste while menstruating is an important, and a very easy step we can take in taking our responsibility for the environment. It takes one person at the time, and if you think your choice doesn’t matter, then let me tell you my dear, it does.

I believe in informed decision-making about caring for our bodies, so Pure makes it a mission to strengthen awareness of a massive problem of toxic elements that form non-organic pads and tampons. Soaked in absorbents these are carcinogenic and can cause a toxic shock syndrome. Between 1970 and 1980, 941 American women were diagnosed with Toxic Shock Syndrome, a couple dozens died. The information about the structure of pads and tampons is mostly still undisclosed however, and for some reason that’s legal. For now.

In the meantime though, we have better options. And we deserve the best possible care for our bodies, the purest product there is. A harmless product that doesn’t poison us while catching our flow.

And there is one more reason for which Pure emerged. And that’s to help reducing shame around menstruation. No menstruating person should ever feel embarrassed because their body works in healthy ways. It’s time we reconsidered the way we see our periods, and how we talk about them. Menstruation is a normal bodily function, a sign of reproductive health and our trusted concierge – if a woman’s cycle is out of synch, her period is often the first indication something is amiss, be it physical, psychological or emotional. Don’t you think it’s time we see it as a blessing, rather than a curse?

Hi! My name is Kaja, I’m the founder of Pure and the lass on the photo to your right. I’ve created Pure after a menstrual cup quite literally changed my menstrual life. A cup is like the holy grail, the world’s best kept secret for some reason, but I think it’s time we become aware of all the different benefits it has for us, and for our environment.

In times BC, before cup, I too, used conventional pads and tampons. Only until I grasped how very toxic they are, and how intensely they pollute. Plus, they’re super uncomfortable! It took me years before finding the cup, but when I did, I never looked back.
